Windows - by _Kelvin, salan and iBh|123
1. first of all you need the Win32 MQWCL 0.96 archive
2. OK, now you got 2 options: either you install it into your already existing quake dir - or you make a brand new dir. if you choose the first alternative, just extract the zip into your quake dir and move on to the next step. as you're still reading i suppose you want to install it into a new dir. so what are you waiting for - create a new folder. create 2 subfolders and name them "id1" and "qw". copy your original "pak0.pak" and "pak1.pak" into the "id1" folder. extract the zip into the root of the new folder. note: now you should have the following files in your new dir:
..mqwcl\mqwcl.exe
..mqwcl\glmqwcl.exe
..mqwcl\id1\pak0.pak
..mqwcl\id1\pak1.pak
..mqwcl\qw\gfx\mqwcl\menuback.lmp
..mqwcl\qw\gfx\mqwcl\scrback.lmp
3. run MQWCL.EXE (software renderer) or GLMQWCL.EXE (OpenGL renderer)
Linux - by jogihoogi
1. first of all you need the Linux MQWCL 0.96 archive
2. now you got 2 options: install it into your old quake directory or put into a fresh and clean new one.
old directory: copy the mqwcl.tar.gz into your quake dir and untar it (tar xfvz mqwcl.tar.gz). thats it. go on to step 3 now.
new directory: create a new directory. create 2 subdirs called "id1" and "qw", do not use capital letters like ID1 because linux is case sensitive. copy the files "pak0.pak" and "pak1.pak" into the id1 dir (remember, case sensitive ...). copy the mqwcl.tar.gz into your new directory and untar it (tar xfvz mqwcl.tar.gz). thats it go on to step 3 now.
3. run mqwcl (software), glmqwcl (gl) or mqwcl.x11 (x11)
